TUSAK

Introduction and Aim

TUSAK, or Turkish National Commission for the Seismology and Physics of the Earth, is a sub-commission of the Turkish National Union of Geodesy and Geophysics.

TUSAK is one of the 7 sub-commissions affiliated to the Turkish National Union of Geodesy and Geophysics, which was established in 1968 in parallel to the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG). TUSAK aims to ensure coordination and cooperation with relevant governmental and private agencies and organizations in the fields of seismology and physics of the earth, promote research and applications, and represent Turkey at the international organizations where it is a member.

Based on Law no.5902 on the Organization and Duties of the Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency, our Presidency has been carrying out, since 17.12.2009, the executive duties of the Turkish National Commission for the Seismology and Physics of the Earth (TUSAK), a sub-commission of the Turkish National Union of Geodesy and Geophysics, which were previously being carried out by the now defunct Directorate General of Disaster Affairs.
