Turkish Humanitarian Aid Ship Sets Sail For Yemen 10 July 2017

#BeTheHope, the Turkish humanitarian aid ship which left the port of İskenderun yesterday, is carrying flour, medicine, relief supplies and mobile hospitals for the conflict-ridden Yemen. A ship carrying humanitarian aid worth $8.5 million departed for Yemen with the support and contributions of Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), The Ministry of Health, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), Turkish Grain Board (TMO) and Turkish Red Crescent from a southern Turkish port yesterday.

A total of 60 journalists from 32 countries visit Turkey, which has the largest refugee population in the World A group of international journalists visited an AFAD camp in Turkey, a country that hosts more than 3 million refugees. A total of 60 journalists from 32 countries are visiting Turkey in the sponsorship of Turkey's Directorate General of Press and Information (BYEGM) and Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).

The Most Generous Country in the World: Turkey 21 June 2017

According to the 2017 Global Humanitarian Aid Report, Turkey is the 2nd largest contributor to humanitarian relief and “the most generous country” in the world. Development Initiatives, a U.K.-based platform monitoring humanitarian aid across the world, released a report today, announcing Turkey as the country that gives most to people in need compared to its gross national income. The latest report also shows Turkey as the second largest humanitarian donor in the world.

EFDRR Istanbul Open Forum Concluded with Istanbul Outcomes 30 March 2017

The European Forum for Disaster Risk Reduction (EFDRR) issued its 17-point Istanbul Outcomes at the end of the Istanbul Open Forum. The President of AFAD Mr. Halis Bilden expressed four messages at his closing speech. The Forum has engaged a broad range of stakeholders including Governments, the UN, parliamentarians, mayors, intergovernmental organizations, scientific and academic institutions, private businesses, NGOs, community based organizations and others. The multi-stakeholder engagement strengthens our approach as we consider all perspectives to identify, and avoid to the extent possible, the creation of new risks, as called for by the Sendai Framework.
