Bangladesh Disaster Management Minister Visit AFAD 06 November 2013

(17 September 2013) AFAD President Dr. Fuat OKTAY received Bangladesh Disaster Management and Relief Honourable Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood ALI and accompanying delegation who visited AFAD on September 17, Tuesday. AFAD Head of Response Department Fatih ÖZER and WFP representatives have also attended to the meeting. Fatih ÖZER briefed the delegation on works, projects, services, biometric registration system, AFAD Card and projects in progress regarding Syrians inside and outside of the Temporary Accommodation Centres built in Turkey. (16 September 2013) Japan Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation and Tourism Shimpei MATSUSHITA and accompanying delegation visited AFAD and met with AFAD’s President Dr. Fuat OKTAY on 16 September 2013, Monday. The meeting was held for developing the disaster management capacity between Turkey and Japan and improving cooperation thereof. US College Students in Bolu Camp 26 July 2013

US college students are coming to Bolu every year for field camp practice in part of their training. College students who study geology at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (SDSM&T) and have to complete their field practice in order to be graduated. for graduation.Training are being done with the groups of 20 – 24 person groups at the camp built by Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency. The camp is in Mudurnu Taşkesti, Bolu and it is the most preferred one among the camps that were coordinated by SDSM&T in total of 7 locations. 10 Scullery Containers to Viranşehir Camp 26 July 2013

(23 July 2013) AFAD sent 10 scullery containers donated by UNFPA to Viranşehir Temporary Protection Center (TPC) in Şanlıurfa. Scullery containers using solar technology to heat water will contribute considerably to power saving. Ready in 10 Minutes Containers which are mobile can be ready in less than 10 minutes and used by 12 families at the same time. Temporary Protection Centres will be at service to ease the pains of victims faster after a possible disaster in the future.
