Turkish Deputies and AFAD Officials Visit Arakanese Muslims 08 April 2018

A delegation of Turkish deputies and officials from the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) recently visited camps in Bangladesh housing Muslims who had fled violence in Myanmar’s Arakan province. Many Turkish deputies, including AK Party Konya Deputy Hüsnüye Erdoğan, Tekirdağ Deputy Ayşe Doğan, Nevşehir Deputy Mustafa Açıkgöz, Hatay Deputy Hacı Bayram Türkoğlu and Kayseri Deputy İsmail Tamer as well as the Head of AFAD Mehmet Güllüoğlu and AFAD Vice President İsmail Palakoğlu took part in the visit to Cox’s Bazar.

“We Must Take Measures Against Risk of Tsunami in Addition to Earthquakes” 06 April 2018

Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Akdağ said: ”We must take measures against tsunami waves that are triggered by earthquakes in addition to our preparations against possible earthquakes.” Deputy Prime Minister Prof. Dr. Recep Akdağ listed his observations concerning damages and reconstruction projects carried out in Sendai that was hit by earthquake and tsunami disasters in 2001 as a part of his contacts during his Japan visit.

Turkey’s Humanitarian Aid in Afrin - Report No: 2 (05.04.2018) 05 April 2018

Since January 29, the Republic of Turkey Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), Turkish Red Crescent and other Turkish NGOs have provided humanitarian aid to the people living in 170 different locations of Afrin. In the framework of Operation Olive Branch which was launched on January 20, Turkey has delivered humanitarian aid in the areas that were liberated from terrorist groups under the coordination of AFAD. On 18 March, Free Syrian Army (FSA) fighters, backed by Turkey's special forces, cleared the center of Afrin from the terrorist elements. Thereafter, Turkish humanitarian agencies also started to provide humanitarian aid to civilians living in Afrin city center.

Second phase of the Enhancement of International Cooperation for Development Program was organized on March 20, 2018 with the participation of the Head of AFAD Dr. Mehmet Güllüoğlu and the high level officials of the Balkan countries. Turkey's New Earthquake Hazard Map is Published 27 March 2018

Turkey Earthquake Regions Map which came into effect in 1966 has been updated by the Department of Earthquake Directorate of AFAD and published in the Official Gazette on March 18, 2018 with issue no 30364. The new map will enter into force on January 1, 2019.

Turkey’s Humanitarian Aid in Afrin - Report No: 1 (24.03.2018) 24 March 2018
In the framework of Operation Olive Branch that was launched on January 20, Turkey has not only established security and stability in the areas that were previously under the control of terrorist organization PYD/YPG/DAESH but also delivered humanitarian aid to the people living in these areas. Since the beginning of the operation, Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD), Turkish Red Crescent and some other Turkish NGOs have provided humanitarian aid to the people in need at 55 different locations in Afrin.

Turkish aid agencies distribute food to Afrin civilians 20 March 2018

Disaster and Emergency Management Authority and Turkey's Red Crescent distributed hot meals to civilians in Syria's Afrin, which was liberated during the ongoing Operation Olive Branch. Mehmet Güllüoğlu, the head of Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD), and Ibrahim Altan, head of the Turkish Red Crescent Society, also took part during the distribution of meals in villages of Diwan Al Fawqani and Deir Ballut.

“Positive Institution of the Year” award to AFAD 20 March 2018

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) was awarded with the “Positive Institution of the Year” as a part of the “9th RADEV Positive Awards Ceremony” organized by the Association of Radio House.
