Bosnia Donates Meat to the Syrian People The Bosnian people donate 120 tons of meat to the Syrian community in Turkey. Ankara, 5 December 2015 – In line with a protocol signed by the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and the Embassy of Bosnia-Herzegovina in Ankara, the Bosnian people have donated 120 tons of red meat to the Syrian refugee community in Turkey.

Search and Rescue Team Responds to 1254 Calls in 2015 AFAD’s search and rescue team responded to 1254 emergency cases, including earthquakes and traffic accidents, in the first 300 days of the year. Ankara, 13 November 2015 – The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority, which employs over 1900 search and rescue professionals across Turkey, responded to a total of 1254 emergencies, including 68 international cases, since January 2015.

Nearly 300,000 Refugee Children Back in School An AFAD-led education drive in Turkey facilitates the return of nearly 300,000 Syrian and Iraqi refugee children to school. The authorities aim to reach a total of 460,000 children by year’s end. Ankara, 11 November 2015 - A nationwide education drive, which the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) has been coordinating since September 2014, made it possible for close to 300,000 refugee children to continue their education at temporary protection centers, Turkish schools and education centers accredited by Turkey’s Ministry of Education.

Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council Reps Visit AFAD’s Education Center Military experts from 12 EAPC member states visit AFADEM as part of a training session on humanitarian aid operations in disaster zones, praise Turkey’s efforts. Ankara, 6 November 2015 -- Military experts from 12 EAPC member states visited AFADEM, AFAD’s education center in Ankara, as part of a training session under the Partnership for Peace Program. The visitors received information about Turkey’s Disaster Response Plan (TAMP) and the country’s humanitarian relief efforts for displaced Syrians. AFADEM, a military expert told AFAD’s press team, was “the best international training center in the world.”
