Rescue Dogs Certified 09 December 2015
AFAD chief presents official certificates to search and rescue dogs.
Ankara, 8 December 2015 – Search and rescue dogs and their trainers have received official certificates upon successfully completing a proficiency test held in Samsun on 9-27 November 2015.
Following six months of training and two weeks of tests, 17 out of 32 participating dogs have been awarded official certificates. The most successful participants were Erdem Kafkas’ Sintra, Ersin Ünverin’s Chivas and Niyazi Özbek's Naz.
Speaking at the official ceremony, AFAD President Dr. Fuat Oktay said that search and rescue dogs were a key part of response teams and reiterated the Authority’s commitment to certifying successful dogs in the future: “The search and rescue dogs we have certified will provide critical support to first responders in earthquakes and even war.”

(29 November 2012, ANTALYA) Within the scope of the 2nd International Conference on the Hopefor Initiative held on 28-30 November 2012, a Field Exercise was organized on 29 November 2012 by our Presidency. All teams participating in the exercise came together for a nice dinner party. Hosted by our Director General Dr. Fuat OKTAY, the dinner was attended by Antalya Deputy Governor Turan EREN and Antalya Provincial Disaster and Emergencies Director Fevzi TİMUR as well as high-level officials. AFAD on High Alert Following Afghanistan Quake AFAD’s Search and Rescue crew awaits call for international assistance from Afghanistan.
