AFAD Sets Up Refugee Tent at European Parliament 09 February 2016
AFAD sets up an authentic tent at the European Parliament to raise awareness about the refugee crisis.
Brussels, 12 January 2016 – “The Syrian Spillover,” a documentary sponsored by the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and the Young Friends of Turkey, was screened at the European Parliament today.
In an effort to raise awareness about the humanitarian crisis in Syria, AFAD set up a tent at the EP headquarters.
The documentary focuses on everyday experiences of Syrian refugees in Turkey.

EP Rapporteur Praises Turkey’s Humanitarian Agenda The European Parliament’s new rapporteur on Turkey, Kati Piri, stated that the country single-handedly carries the burden of the Syrian crisis. HFA Peer Review Completed AFAD Chief delivers closing address at 8-day peer review session in Ankara, where 78 representatives from government, private sector and NGOs participated. Ankara, 9 December 2015 – The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) hosted the European Forum for Disaster Risk Reduction’s (EFDRR) Peer Review in Ankara. During the event, 78 participants presented their activities to six European experts over 32 sessions and eight days. Subcommittee which has been established as to “investigate problems of refugees, illegal immigrants and defectors who abide in Turkey.” under Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Human Rights Investigation Commission completed its review report regarding Syrian people in Adıyaman and Şanlıurfa. The report which points out that centres of sheltering have all facilities of a town in Anatolia, has been emphasized “tent cities stand head and shoulders above the likes around the world”. The report relays that human dignity and human health standards are cared in centres of sheltering.
