AFAD attended the 5th Budapest Process Ministerial Conference 05 June 2013

AFAD participated in the 5th Budapest Process Ministerial Conference “A Silk Routes Partnership for Migration” with a stand including the documents about AFAD’s activities.
Interior Minister Muammer GÜLER visited AFAD’s stand on which booklets related to migration from Syria has attracted great interest.
The 5th Budapest Process Ministerial Conference was held in Istanbul, Turkey on April 19, 2013. The meeting that had a theme of “A Silk Routes Partnership for Migration”, gathered participants from 53 countries and 22 international organizations. Aim of the meeting was to discuss “making policies about migration” and “management of human mobility”. AFAD’s stand that contains documents on migration of Syrians and emergency management, received strong interest from the participants
Pol De WITTE, Belgium Ambassador of Ankara and the representatives of other countries looked at the stand with interest and staff of AFAD gave information to the participants.
AFAD, provides accommodation opportunity above the world standards for approximately 200.000 Syrians and manages continuing human mobility towards Turkey. Migration beyond borders requires presence of flexible cooperation policies among international institutions and nongovernmental organizations at regional and global level. Budapest Process contributes to this collaboration by establishing a transparent and equitable basis for discussion.
