Top Level Meeting On Syrian Guest Community In Turkey 21 August 2014
TOP LEVEL MEETING ON SYRIAN GUEST COMMUNITY IN TURKEY
A large group of cabinet ministers, senior government and military officials, governors and mayors will convene on August 22, 2014 to discuss ongoing efforts regarding the Syrian guest community in Turkey.
Deputy Minister H.E. Beşir Atalay will chair the meeting, which will focus on the relief efforts coordinated by the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and all other aspects of issues related to the Syrian guest population in Turkey. AFAD President Fuat Oktay will brief the participants on the Authority's work.
Family and Social Policies Minister Ayşenur İslam, Labor and Social Security Minister Faruk Çelik, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, Interior Minister Efkan Ala, National Education Minister Nabi Avcı and Health Minister Mehmet Müezzinoğlu are expected to attend the meeting. Also attending will be Turkish Land Forces Commander Gen. Hulusi Akar, General Commander of Gendarmerie Gen. Abdullah Atay, Undersecretary of the National Intelligence Organization Hakan Fidan, Deputy Commander of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces Gen. Yaşar Güler, Turkish National Police head Mehmet Kılıçlar and Deputy Undersecretary of the Prime Ministry İbrahim Kalın, Public Diplomacy Coordinator of the Prime Ministry Cemalettin Haşimi as well as the governors and mayors of provinces with large Syrian guest communities.
The press corps will be permitted to follow and record the opening address by Deputy Minister Beşir Atalay.

(11-12 November 2013) Deputy Prime Minister H.E Beşir ATALAY and President of AFAD Dr. Fuat OKTAY have been conducting investigation and have been maintaining contacts in Philippines because of Haiyan Typhoon which caused substantial damages. (March 14, 2013) Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Beşir ATALAY got together with United Nations Under Secretary Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie AMOS in our Presidency. In the framework of the meeting, Joint Action Plan Protocol was signed by Presidency and United Nations Office for the Humanitarian Affairs. Director General Dr. Fuat OKTAY and Valerie AMOS signed protocol that aimed to develop collaboration spheres between AFAD and UN OCHA.
